  1. Costumes for a Cause World of Change Parade 2023

    October 31, 2023

This morning Atwood Primary School and Williams Elementary School joined forces for a Costumes for a Cause World of Change Parade! Children along with their families held a parade and collected change on this beautiful, chilly Halloween morning. The fundraiser will help Oakland families in need and the first responders from the Lewiston crisis. The children chanted, “World of Change,” and they learned that together they can make the world a better place while having fun! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  2. It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

    October 23, 2023

It’s been dark and rainy for days, so let’s look back to some engaging learning moments for the Atwood kindergarteners in Mrs. Hatch’s class! We’ve had a beautiful fall season, and after many days of practicing letters on whiteboards, chalkboards, and magnetic boards, it was time to take advantage of the amazing weather and move the letter learning outside. Students in Mrs. Hatch’s kindergarten class were showing off their skills writing the letter Zz in the photos attached. They wrote the words zoo and zip on the tar, too! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  3. Hatch’s Hoppers Win the Apple Lottery

    October 16, 2023

Atwood Primary School’s kindergarten students in Mrs. Hatch’s class won the lottery and had the pleasure of being the first class to harvest apples from the little Atwood orchard. This happened to fall on the day they were studying the letter Aa in their Jolly Phonics lesson. It was a perfect opportunity to have a healthy, homegrown snack that started with the letter of the day! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  4. Spirit Week 2023

    October 5, 2023

Last week was Spirit Week for the Atwood Awesome Superheroes! They celebrated with Hat Day, Pajama Day, Wacky Wednesday, Dress Your Best Day, and finished the week with everyone wearing their new “Today is a great day to be an Atwood Awesome Superhero” t-shirt purchased by the read-a-thon! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  5. Spotting Feelings and Calm Classroom Environment

    September 27, 2023

Mrs. Weatherbie’s classroom at Atwood Primary School is learning about their feelings and how to spot them. She is teaching them that if we understand our feelings (the comfortable ones like peace, happiness, confidence, and love – as well as the uncomfortable ones like anxiety, anger, and sadness), we can make better decisions, use helpful strategies, and be happier people! Some of the strategies students are learning are hand motions that they can do anywhere they happen to be. Other strategies are helpful tools that let them sit and experience their feelings… and then let them go. Finally, they’ve made a promise that no matter what they are feeling, they will not hurt themselves, any person, their work, their classroom, or the school. It’s amazing how spotting feelings has made the students a closer team of learners, and has helped shape their calm classroom! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  6. Imagination Opportunities

    September 20, 2023

Atwood Primary School was the recipient of a Gratitude Grant two years ago, but the inside recess toys purchased through the grant were being put to good use with last week’s rain! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  7. Mud Pies and Imagination

    September 13, 2023

The outdoor kitchen is a huge hit on the playground at Atwood Primary School! Recess after recess the children are baking mud pies and serving their hungry customers! So much imagination at work. #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome
