  1. A Night of Fairy Tale Engineering

    November 21, 2025

    Atwood Primary’s Fairy Tale STEM Night, organized by Title I Specialist Mrs. Corson, brought stories and science together in a night full of imagination and invention. After listening to classic tales, students and their families worked side by side to design creative solutions inspired by the stories. Using recycled materials, they built hang gliders and slides to help Jack escape the Giant, crafted “just right” beds for Goldilocks, and engineered clever traps to outwit the witch and save Hansel and Gretel. The evening blended fun, family, and hands-on learning, proving that creativity truly has no limits! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome


  4. Young Authors Celebrate Their Writing

    November 4, 2025

    Atwood Primary School’s first graders proudly shared their stories with classmates and teachers, showcasing their creativity, effort, and growing writing skills. Students read their work aloud and reflected on their progress, celebrating how much they’ve learned and grown as writers so far this year. It was a joyful event filled with imagination, pride, and a love of storytelling! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  5. Exploring Nature, One Discovery at a Time

    October 23, 2025

    Atwood’s Pre-K students embarked on a Nature Scavenger Hunt filled with wonder and adventure! As they explored the forest trails, young learners eagerly searched for pinecones, animal tracks, acorns, and more. Their excitement and curiosity shined as they discovered the beauty of the natural world around them. #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome


  7. National Dance Day at Atwood Primary

    October 1, 2025

    Atwood Primary kicked off the year with their first “Town Meeting,” where the school community came together to celebrate National Dance Day! Dancing is one of their favorite traditions, bringing everyone together as one big school family. This year, Mrs. Blaisdell—Atwood’s amazing PE teacher—choreographed a special routine to the song Golden, using student feedback to create moves that perfectly tie into their “Shine Bright” theme for the year.

    To make the day even more special, the PTA gifted each student a bracelet featuring empowering “I AM” messages inspired by the Atwood Awesome Affirmations. These bracelets are a daily reminder to every child that they are fearless, special, and valued! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  8. Atwood Awesome Affirmations

    September 27, 2025

    This year, Atwood Primary introduced a new routine: Atwood Awesome Affirmations. Each Monday, the school community learns an Affirmation of the Week designed to support students’ social and emotional well-being.

    The affirmations are displayed on a special board near the main office, woven into daily morning meetings, and reinforced in specialist classes. Some of the affirmations so far include:

    • I am Atwood Awesome!
    • I can listen and learn.
    • I believe in myself.
    • I can do hard things!

    The goal of weekly affirmations is to build confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset in all students. #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome

  9. Atwood Awesome Specialists

    September 17, 2025

    Every day, students at Atwood Primary enjoy time with their specialists in library, art, music, physical education, and technology. These educators connect with every child, from PreK through second grade.

    Ms. Davis has been teaching students how to navigate their iPads, while Mrs. Peterson makes music with instruments. Mr. Clark inspires creativity with sketchbooks, and Mrs. Blaisdell brings energy and fun to PE—sometimes even under the parachute! In the library, Mr. Grenier is always ready to recommend a book—ask your child about the favorite series Dory Fantasmagory!

  10. Our Class Families

    September 10, 2025

    Many classrooms at Atwood Primary enjoyed reading Our Class is a Family by Shannon Olsen. Through the story, students learned that their classroom is a safe place where everyone can be themselves and where making mistakes is part of the learning process.

    After reading the book together, Mrs. Lee’s first graders created special bracelets with beads representing kindness, respect, being ourselves, sticking together, and working hard. At Atwood, classrooms truly feel like families—places where students grow, learn, and support one another every day! #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome
